PURPOSE OF ASSIGNMENT:

UNICEF’s Division of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) is seeking ways to engage the entertainment industry, to better position UNICEF and enable unrestricted fundraising through philanthropy and corporate channels.

The purpose of the Strategic Initiatives Consultant assignment is to support UNICEF’s fundraising and marketing work towards the entertainment sector, particularly the music industry, arts industry and gaming industry.

How can you make a difference?

SCOPE OF WORK:

Under the supervision of the Corporate Alliances Manager, the role will play a pivotal role in driving the development and execution of a comprehensive global marketing campaigns and fundraising strategies across UNICEF’s new platform for the entertainment industry: Every Play for Every Child. This role is uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between marketing and partnerships activations, ensuring that UNICEF’s marketing work not only garners significant global visibility, but also delivers strong financial results through strategic partnerships and fundraising efforts. The role has a strong emphasis on event fundraising. This role is essential for building a pipeline of partnership opportunities and ensuring that UNICEF’s platform is monetized effectively, driving both marketing and fundraising successes. The role will have a significant focus on the music industry and the arts industry and will work closely with the teams at PFP, including a small reference group of stakeholders, as well as relevant National Committees.

Role and Responsibilities:

• This role is expected to lead and oversee the development of the music industry, which includes the following:

• Implement UNICEF’s offering and fundraising strategy for music.

• Create and maintain the operational processes for industry at UNICEF.

• Deliver global marketing campaign/activation for B2B and B2C audiences.

• Develop fundraising mechanisms and tools to support global strategy.

• Capacity build with fundraising markets, oversee their partnership development.

• Lead/participate in global partnership efforts.

• Lead creation of fundraising and marketing assets for private sector.

• Coordinate marketing and communications.

• Lead budget, work planning, reporting, and KPIs.

• Lead the global market working group, including any global workshops.

Travel:

• There is the possibility of travel during the assignment on a per-needed basis and will be paid by UNICEF. Therefore, it is not included in the lump sum fees.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

• An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: Marketing, Communications, the humanities, journalism, broadcast, or another relevant field.Alternatively, a first-level University Degree in a relevant field combined with two (2) additional years of qualifying professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

• Any other additional training in a related field is an asset.

Experience:

• A minimum of five (5) years of related experience in fundraising, partnership development, project management, and knowledge management is required.

• Experience in working with UHWNI/philanthropy/corporate audiences, understanding their motivations and how to apply insights into fundraising and marketing activations is required.

• Proven experience in managing competing priorities with different deadlines is required.

• Proven experience in leading fundraising events is required.

• Experience developing content is an asset.

• Experience in working with creative teams or agencies and a sound understanding of the creative process is an asset.

• Experience in the NGO sector/ for UNICEF and/or UN is an asset.

• Experience with a UNICEF National Committee is an asset.

• Experience with the entertainment industry is an asset.

Skills:

• Strategic Planning & Execution: strong strategic thinking with the ability to plan, design, and implement complex marketing and fundraising initiatives that align with both organizational and partner objectives.

• Flexibility and ability to work independently and as a team player with a range of constituents and colleagues at varying levels.Must possess a strong work ethic, have confidence, take initiative and be an enthusiastic team player.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, both written and verbal is anasset.

• Strong customer service approach to interactions with colleagues and partners; ability tonavigate complex environments and help build relationships with a variety of stakeholders is an asset.

Language:

• Fluency in English is required.Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is considered an asset.Knowledge of a UNICEF National Committee language is considered an asset.

Remarks:

Please indicate your all-inclusive (lump sum) fees against the deliverables listed above, including all associated administrative and travel costs (if applicable), in the cover letter. The office selects the individual based on best value for money.

Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
