The Ombuds provides an independent, neutral, and confidential service to support staff, consultants, and interns in addressing workplace issues, conflicts, or concerns. The role complements existing resources and contributes to a fair, healthy, and productive work environment. Services include consultations, mediation, conflict management coaching, facilitation, referrals, policy guidance, and training.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide outreach and information on available services.
• Listen, guide, and refer individuals while encouraging direct resolution with colleagues or managers.
• Remain neutral and impartial, advocating for fair processes, not outcomes.
• Identify trends and systemic issues, advising senior leadership as appropriate.
• Stay current with Ombuds best practices and evaluate services regularly.
Operating Principles
• Independence - Free from influence of management or governance bodies.
• Neutrality & Impartiality - No advocacy for individuals or the organization.
• Confidentiality - Strictly confidential except in cases of imminent serious harm.
• Informality - Provides informal support; not part of formal grievance mechanisms.
• Discretion - Acts only with the consent of the individual seeking support.
• No Retaliation - Individuals engaging with the Ombuds are protected.
Profile
• At least 5 years in Ombuds/conflict resolution or similar role.
• Strong experience in reporting, advising, and identifying organizational trends.
• Skills: active listening, impartiality, conflict resolution, problem-solving, discretion, integrity, analytical ability, trust-building, cultural sensitivity, and resilience under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; French preferred.
• Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
