- Optical Design Engineer Physical Optics
- We are looking for an experienced optical engineer that contributes to our activity in physical optics. As a subject matter expert in the corporate R&D team, you will work for the diffractive optics product range at Focuslight. This includes diffractive optical elements (DOEs), Metaoptics and all products where physical optics plays a major role in realizing a certain optical function. Your main
TASKS
will be the optical design, tolerance analysis and product implementation of diffractive optical elements for industrial use. A solid background in electromagnetic simulation is required to use and further develop simulation tools for this purpose. To be successful, you need to gain a complete understanding of the laws involved in manufacturing miniaturized structures for optical use. Job Responsibility
- In more detail the Subject Matter Expert should :Design, simulate and optimize micro-optical components based on physical optics principles
- Develop and maintain simulation tools for optical design, tolerance analysis
- Lead and mentor a team to oversee the DOEs production on different platforms and perform the functional test, ensuring products meet the customer’s specifications. Efficiently coordinate the internal and external global resources to deliver the competitive DOEs in the market. Capture and formalize learnings from rapid prototyping and iterative development cycles
- Establish and maintain comprehensive technical documentation
- Provide Technical support across the global teams and customers

- Excellent technical and analytical understanding of complex subjects

- Skilled in planning and executing experiments unifying different technology platforms

- Professional skillsB. Degree in Microtechnology/Physics/Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Strong expertise in electromagnetic theory and diffractive optics
- Experience in metrology and characterization of micro and nanostructures
- Fluent in English, German as well as French; Chinese is a plus
- Highly experienced in optical system design and analysis of diffractive optics
- Proficiency with optical modelling tools (Virtual
- Lab, …) Skilled in programming and numerical computing software tools (Mat
- Lab, Pyhton, …) Knowing how to use computational hardware and AI for optical design optimization is a plus
- Profound knowledge in micro and nanofabrication technology and clean room fabrication process, including DOE and Metaoptics wafer foundries
