We are a private, abstinence-based addiction clinic providing exceptional care and support to an international clientele. Located on the spectacular shores of Lake Lucerne, we are an English-speaking boutique clinic specialising in the treatment of addiction and affective disorders such as depression and anxiety. Our team is dedicated to helping people overcome addiction and achieve long-term recovery through compassionate, evidence-informed care.
We are currently recruiting dedicated and experienced Recovery Counsellors (100%) to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate combines personal recovery experience, professional competence, and a strong commitment to supporting others on their recovery journey. In this role, you will work closely with medical and mental health professionals to provide comprehensive care, guidance, and encouragement to our clients.
Start date: immediately or by agreement.
Skills and Qualifications
•
A minimum of 10 years of continuous abstinence from all psychoactive substances
•
Excellent written and spoken English (C2 professional proficiency); other languages are an advantage
•
Active and ongoing participation in personal recovery work or mutual aid groups, such as Narcotics Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous, etc.
•
A clear understanding of your recovery process and the ability to express it in a differentiated manner
•
Good IT skills and the ability to write reports and clinical notes
•
A high degree of professional & personal competence as an "expert from experience"
•
The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with medical leadership
•
A relevant form of training or work experience
•
The ability to work with a culturally diverse clientele
•
A current driver’s license and willingness to drive
•
Ability to commute or relocate close to Lucerne, Switzerland
•
Ability to work in shifts (combination of day, overnight, weekends, holidays)
•
Must be eligible for a work permit in Switzerland (CH/EU-/EFTA nationals). An EU passport is ideal for obtaining a work permit if you are applying outside Switzerland.
Key Responsibilities:
Working as a valued member of the clinical team, our Recovery Counsellors offer essential motivation, support, and guidance to our clients as they embark on their recovery journey with the utmost care and consideration for confidentiality. You will collaborate with medical staff and other team members to ensure integrated care and actively contribute to implementing client treatment plans. You will have the opportunity to use your own recovery experience to inspire and guide clients through their recovery process, moderate and deliver group sessions, escort the clients to mutual aid groups in Zurich and Lucerne, accompany them to various off-site activities, organising and supervising overnight, on-call, and weekend plans. You will also be responsible for digitally reporting and recording the clients' sessions with recovery counsellors and other programme-related activities and contributing to a comprehensive and organised summary of their progress.
