Business Analyst / Application Manager (Core Banking Systems)

Job description:

As a Business Analyst / Application Manager, you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing critical banking applications, ensuring business continuity, system stability, and continuous improvement. Acting as the bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, you'll analyse business requirements, manage application lifecycles, coordinate change initiatives, and provide operational support across a complex application landscape.

Working closely with colleagues across business, operations, finance, compliance, and international technology teams, you'll play a key role in delivering secure, reliable, and scalable technology solutions within a global financial services environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather, analyse and document functional and technical requirements.
  • Translate business needs into practical technology solutions and system improvements.
  • Provide application management and production support for business-critical applications.
  • Manage incidents, problems, defects and service requests, ensuring timely resolution and effective stakeholder communication.
  • Coordinate software releases, upgrades, patches, testing activities and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Work closely with third-party vendors and external service providers to maintain service quality and resolve technical issues.
  • Monitor application performance and proactively identify opportunities for optimisation and automation.
  • Support business users through troubleshooting, training and access management.
  • Maintain documentation, operational procedures, audit evidence and control records.
  • Contribute to operational resilience, risk management and regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Collaborate with global technology teams and business stakeholders across multiple international locations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining high standards of operational excellence.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years' experience within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Previous experience as a Business Analyst, Application Manager, Application Support Analyst, or similar role.
  • Strong background within Private Banking, Wealth Management, or Wealth Technology environments.
  • Experience with core banking platforms such as Avaloq, TCS BaNCS, Temenos, Finnova or similar enterprise banking systems.
  • Proven experience supporting core banking platforms and integrated banking applications.
  • Strong understanding of banking operations, products and business processes.
  • Experience managing incidents, application support, releases, testing and change management activities.
  • Solid understanding of SDLC, ITIL and operational control frameworks.
  • Experience supporting highly regulated financial environments.
  • Working knowledge of SQL for querying, analysing and troubleshooting application data.
  • Experience with AML, reconciliation, regulatory reporting and/or document management applications is highly desirable.
  • Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.
