System Engineer VM / Server (w/m)

Ärztekasse is renewing its entire datacenter and the products affected by this transformation. To support this digitalization step, we are looking for smart and experienced engineers to contribute and shape clever and creative solutions for a meaningful industry.

System Engineer VM / Server (w/m)

Pensum: 80-100%

Start: immediately or by appointment

Duration: unlimited

Location: Geneva area (Thônex) or Zurich area (Urdorf)

Main Tasks

• Install, configure and maintain virtual machines and server systems (Windows and support Linux/RedHat)
• Ensure availability, performance and security of the server landscape in our virtual datacenter
• Perform patch management, hardening and lifecycle management of server systems
• Automate server provisioning and configuration through infrastructure as code
• Drive the migration from unmanaged VMs to IaaS-provider-managed VMs
• Monitor systems and resolve incidents to minimize downtime
• This role is part of the Platform team
• Participate in future on-call rotation

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in system/server engineering or administration
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration, Linux (RedHat) is a plus
• Experience with virtualization technologies and datacenter operations
• Scripting and automation skills, preferably in Bash, PowerShell or Python
• Basic understanding of Kubernetes and container orchestration is a plus
• Knowledge of security best practices and patch management
• Strong communication skills in English; German and French are a plus
