Head of Accounting Switzerland

Vereva GmbH
Zug Aujourd'hui CDI Finance, Banque & Assurances

We have been exclusively mandated by Amrize to support them in finding their next Head of Accounting.

All applications will be handled via Blackbird Talent Solutions.

What this role is about

A little over a year ago, Amrize became its own company, spun out after more than a century as part of something much bigger. It kept the depth of that history, but had to build its own structure. It's now listed on both the SIX Swiss Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange.

That's where you'd come in. As Head of Accounting, you'd own the accounting for the Corporate Holding structure under Swiss Code of Obligations and US GAAP, and you'd do it together with a small team.

The work itself is broad: statutory accounting and group reporting, budget and Mid-Term Plan ownership, treasury and M&A-related accounting, and daily back-and-forth with Tax, Treasury, HR, and Corporate Finance.

You'd report directly to the Chief Accounting Officer based in the US, and work alongside colleagues spanning the Shared Service Center and the US, so you're never solving problems alone.

If you're technically strong across OR and US GAAP, and you still genuinely love the craft of accounting rather than just managing it from a distance, this is a role where that love actually gets used.

What you'll own

Accounting & Reporting

  • Oversee accounting and reporting for Swiss-based Holding companies, ensuring accuracy and compliance under Swiss Code of Obligations and US GAAP
  • Ensure timely management of general ledgers, sub-ledgers, and bank reconciliations
  • Support tax calculations, share-based compensation, and share buy-back processes
  • Prepare the consolidated yearly budget and Mid-Term Plan for Swiss-domiciled Holding entities
  • Own General Ledger accounting for financial holdings, including financing, M&A transactions, and investment activities

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a small team of 2 to 4 accounting professionals
  • Set clear expectations and give the team real responsibility, paired with the tools to deliver on it

Internal Controls & Audit Coordination

  • Maintain and continuously improve internal controls in line with Swiss Code of Obligations and SOX requirements
  • Coordinate external audit processes, including impairment analysis, loan recoverability, and compliance with new accounting standards
  • Manage relationships with internal, external, and tax auditors, ensuring smooth and accurate audit processes

Compliance & Taxation

  • Manage tax declarations, including local tax reports, Swiss National Bank filings, and VAT reporting
  • Collaborate with HR on executive payroll and pension matters
  • Work closely with shared services to guide accounting practices for Swiss-domiciled companies

Stakeholder Collaboration & Process Improvement

  • Coordinate with Treasury, M&A, HR, and other finance functionsImplement standard working procedures and contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting systems (SAP S/4)
  • Document business processes for accounting and reporting across all Swiss-domiciled entities

Strategic Projects & Ad-hoc Initiatives

Lead ad-hoc projects related to accounting, reporting, and compliance.

Support group fee calculation and lead initiatives in financial structure optimization and cash pooling

What you bring

Must Have

  • Strong, hands-on technical ability across both Swiss Code of Obligations and US GAAP, able to operate confidently in both
  • Several years of accounting experience, including several years in a headquarters environment
  • Extensive General Ledger accounting experience for financial holdings, including financing, M&A transactions, and investment activities
  • Proficiency in SAP S/4, MS Office, and Tagetik
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development experience, with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional, international teams
  • Native/fluent German and fluent English, Spanish on top would be a plus
  • Willingness to travel as required to support finance and business operations
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), MBA, or a similar formal qualification

As a Person

You're proud to be an accountant. You still love the detail of the postings, not just the oversight, and you get real satisfaction from helping the team deliver results.

You're structured but not rigid: you can see where a process could work better and you're comfortable proposing that improvement, and equally comfortable pushing back, in a constructive way, when something doesn't add up. You enjoy dialogue, want honest feedback both ways, and like being part of a team that comes together to fix problems rather than pointing fingers.

You genuinely enjoy developing people, not just processes, and want to build a small team you can be proud of. You're open-minded and open to the occasional trip abroad to meet the people you work with.

This role connects with international teams across time zones.

Guide pratique
